Asus has come up with the SBC-04D1S-U external Blu-ray burner that follows the form factor of many devices these days, where slim is in. Standing vertically just like the old school PS2, it comes in a gloss black finish alongside controls for the brightness of its external blue LED. Write speed stands at 4.8x for BD-ROM/R/RE media, 8x for DVD+R discs and 24x for the CD-R format. The inclusion of disc encryption enables users to password-protect the whole disc or just part of the content. Burning software is provided by CyberLink, where a simple drag-and-drop interface is used for creating discs. Thereis no word on pricing and availability as at press time.
