Freescale Semiconductor is hard at work on future possible smartbook designs, where the company has already commissioned half a dozen prototypes to date including the model you see above, boasting a touchscreen display complete with QWERTY-pads that jut out from both left and right sides. The Smartbook platform will rely on ARM-based processors, and are touted to offer superior battery life for an added advantage over regular netbooks. Hopefully such zany designs will be out sooner rather than later, offering all that they can without compromising on performance and endurance. Unfortunately, current working hardware prototypes haven’t been that convincing to date.
