Gefen has announced its new GefenTV Digital Audio Decoder that is capable of remixing 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround audio for stereo (L/R) outputs, virtually allowing any movie or TV show broadcast in 5.1 Dolby digital audio to be decoded, where the subsequent output is on an existing pair of analog speakers. The whole idea behind this device is to make you feel as though your 2-speaker setup is working as a proper 5.1 system, although no amount of technological wizardry will ever be able to make it sound like the real thing despite having improvements.
