The loss of a notebook is not so much painful due to the hardware gone missing, but more of the software and work that is stored inside. Hence, HP aims to reduce this pain by introducing the Notebook PC Tracking and Recovery Service that will retail for an additional £24 on top of your notebook’s purchase price. This software will be pre-installed, where the laptop’s location will be logged whenever it connects to the Internet. All you need to do is call the police and HP in the event where your laptop goes missing, and the company will automatically activate software that purges important files the next time it connects to the Internet. This service is currently available in Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, South Africa, Sweden, the UK, the Netherlands, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania.
