NEC has just announced its MultiSync E222W LCD monitor that goes green – it comes with an Eco Mode that supposedly reduces power consumption and heat generation, while the inclusion of Intelligent Power Management and off timer will further conserve energy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions whenever the E222W switches to a low-power state or powers down automatically whenever it is on but not in use. This feature will override OS-based power options, which is a good thing. In addition, the MultiSync E222W will enable users to track their carbon footprint savings via a carbon footprint meter so that your consciousness will be singed with guilt when you use it for far too long. Other specifications of the E222W include :-
- 1,680 x 1,050 native resolution
- 16:10 aspect ratio
- 250 cd/m2 brightness
- 5ms pixel response time
- Energy Star 5.0 and EPEAT Silver compliant
Each $269 purchase comes with a three-year, parts-and-labor, limited warranty when it is released later next month.
