Toshiba Unveils 3D Displays

SID Display Week 2009 saw Toshiba unveil 3D displays that ought to usher in a new way to view entertainment content. One of them will feature an “integral imaging system” which will use the lens array in such a way that viewers can see 3D images with the naked eye, doing away with the need for wearing dorky glasses. As for the other two displays, they will rely on the OCB (optically compensated bend) technology that will be used in small LCD panels that boast a moving picture response time (MPRT) as short as 3ms. We can’t wait for such technology to become mainstream – it will definitely redefine many things we’ve taken for granted, and the world of video games too will be ushered into a new era.
