We don’t usually associate aluminum and cheap, but the Averatec N3400 has caught our attention, as 13.3″ is seen by many as the sweet spot between comfort and portability, and at 3.8lbs, this computer is on the light side, for this category. It looks like the outer shell is made of aluminum, but the rest of the casing seems quite “normal”. However, for $799 or so, here’s what you get:
- Intel T3400 2.16Ghz (a CULV would have been cooler)
- 13.3″ 1280×1024 with 1.3MP webcam
- 3GB DDR 2m 800Mhz (8GB max)
- 250GB hdd, DVD drive
- 3x USB, 3.5mm audio in/out, VGA
- Multi-format card reader
- WiFi-N, Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet
Now, we wonder how good the battery life is and if it has a backlit keyboard option.
