
The brilliant boffins at UC Berkeley have discovered that the brain is a wonder organ, where it is capable of developing its own memory circuits which are activated by patients who are currently learning to use their newly outfitted prostheses, and as the adage goes, “practice makes perfect”, the patient’s ability to control the movement of these devices will more or less improve over time. Basically, the human brain will finally accept the artificial limbs as its own, which is why sometimes phantom pain symptoms do appear.
