CSR Boasts About SiRFstarIV Technology

Everyone knows that the SiRFstar III chipset was one of the more reliable ones back in its day, and we do agree to a certain extent that it has done an extremely good job getting people to their destination on time and correctly. Well, CSR, having purchased SiRF within the year, is already ranting and raving about the new SiRFstarIV technology that is touted to do away with those long location fixes. In addition, this new high-performance GPS location engine will come with a smart location sensor interface, adaptive micro-power manager and active jammer remover to deliver the following :-

  • Twice the search capacity of the industry proven SiRFstarIII architecture
  • Advanced micro-power management and integrated switched-mode regulation that maintains hot-start conditions with minimal energy (50-500 microamperes)
  • Intelligent MEMs sensor support (for accelerometers and other sensors) that improves the location experience, enabling greater contextual awareness, more sophisticated energy management and enhanced indoor positional accuracy
  • Advanced DSP technology that actively searches for jammers and removes them prior to correlation for maximum GPS performance and design troubleshooting

The SiRF GSD4t host-based GPS receiver is now available in sample quantities, while production quantities will happen when October rolls around. [Press Release]
