HTC Working On Non-Smartphone

Now isn’t this a welcome change – smartphone gurus HTC is rumored to be working on a new non-smartphone handset that ought to hit the markets this fall. According to Solo Palmari, this lower-end HTC feature phone will still maintain a touchscreen form factor just like the HTC Viva, although it will run on a custom HTC-made operating system that will share many similarities from the TouchFLO 3D and Sense UIs. It would be interesting to see which market niche such a phone occupies, and will HTC’s wealth of experience in customizing user interfaces make them come up with something better than Nokia’s easy-to-use Symbian 40 Series on their entry-level handsets?
