A Bristol company has done something nutty by placing a netbook within a Freeview TV set, churning out a screen-saving TV/PC combo for folks in the UK. It will come in 22″ and 32″ variations, although there is no word on their naming convention just yet. What you see here is the 22″ Freeview TV set that will be powered by an Atom netbook running on Windows XP. Other features are similar to various netbooks out there, including 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, a quartet of USB ports, although you do get a circular “air mouse” and wireless keyboard for navigation purposes. The screen resolution is much more user friendly at 1,680 x 1,050 pixels compared to those you get on netbooks. You can watch TV without being in Windows, but strangely enough there is no Wi-Fi connectivity integrated into the setup. Hopefully future models will rectify this mistake. Bristol hopes to launch the first of these 22″ models sometime this October for under the £500 price point.
