Another day, another robot is introduced to the world. The RHEX is a hexapod robot, and does not have any specific function of seek-and-destroy, although who knows what its demure personality will turn into once it enters military service. This general purpose six-legged robot is able to keep itself upright and can even tackle the challenge of climging stairs. Apart from that, it is able to walk, run and creep at a variety of speeds. We wonder what are some of the practical applications the RHEX can be used for – perhaps it can lie as a silent rat killer, waiting for its “victim” to come near a modified trapdoor mouth only to strike lethally when the opportunity arises?
