Talk about going green at a fair – the Marin County Fair will be solar powered thanks to to huge photovoltaic arrays which provide up to 40% of the fairgrounds’ annual power usage. If you’re curious to check out the fair’s solar power source, take aride aboard the ferris wheel and you’ll be able to spot it from a stellar birds-eye view of the grounds. Another attraction at the fair would be the Electric Wheels Car Show that showcases a wide range of green vehicles, including a Tesla Roadster to UC Berkeley’s solar powered race car among others. Not only that, the Marin County Fair is also home to the world’s first solar-powered carousel.
