Sony Patent Points To Everyday Objects

Blame Nintendo for introducing a paradigm shift when it comes to video game controls, where gamepads are no longer revered with alternative modes of controls being hip and happening. Microsoft decided to jump aboard the bandwagon with their Project Natal, while Sony’s magic stick thingy also makes motion control a staple in gaming – at least in the near future. Well, Sony has just filed another patent that allows real-life objects to be used as a controller of sorts – imagine using actual keys to open doors in your RPG, or a plastic sword that actually slices through enemies. No idea just how efficient this will be though, but we’re wondering whether this can be considered as part and parcel of progress. What do you think?
