Sony Joins Netbook Race

Famous last words – at least that’s what Sony has to own up to after reiterating that the netbook race is one that goes to the bottom, and they’ll do their level best not to enter such a market. Well, talk is cheap since they’ve finally succumbed into the pressure, revealing the first true netbook under the Vaio W Series. We do know it will come with the following standard specifications :-

  • Intel Atom N280 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 10.1″ LCD display at 1,366 x 768 resolution
  • Intel GMA 950 graphics chipset
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity

There is no word on pricing though and the battery life seems quite low: 2 to 3 hours… ouch. We’ll pass. Update: Official video in the full post
