Toshiba was a champion behind the valiant but short-lived HD DVD format, and word has gone round that the company could actually release its first Blu-ray player before the year is over. Should this report hold any water, that would mean the delayed release was more of an emotional decision than a technology issue, since Toshiba is clearly connected with HD DVD from the very beginning. We’re wondering just how different their Blu-ray player would be like should it be released, and does this mean next year’s CES backpack will see a Blu-ray logo adorned beside Toshiba’s name? One can always hope – the irony of it all.
