
Could the future see the advent of devices that are able to “complain” whenever they are abused? Apple is working on that by looking into a system that is able to detect and store into memory “consumer abuse events” including exposure to extreme cold, heat or moisture in void of warranty according to a new patent application. The invention is known as “Consumer Abuse Detection System and Method”, where this concept is supposed to detect issues including a dropped iPhone that could potentially void the device’s warranty. Current Apple products do include liquid submersion indicators that change color the moment they touch liquid. This patent filing will comprise of a physical indicator that saves information of damage digitally into memory. Here’s a cheaper way to go about doing it – strap on each customer to a lie detector and ask some really heart-searching questions…
