The FCC are currently having a long, hard look at the Garmin nuvi 1690 before they let it through to the mases. The nuvi 1690 is tipped to come with a built-in cellular modem and will feature an in-house service known as nuinfo that enables users to search for information using Google Local Search. This is also augmented by the ability to pick up temperature updates for their current area through the title bar. As for the available data link, that would definitely come in handy when one looks for relevant information such as fuel prices and flight times. There is no word on an actual launch in the FCC filing, but whispers abound that the nuvi 1690 will arrive at store shelves sometime in early September.
