Hitachi Deskstar7K2000 'first' 2TB 7200rpm HDD launched

Hitachi has just announced the Deskstar7K2000, a 2TB 7200rpm hard drive. It has 32MB of cache and connects to the computer via SATA II at 3Gbps (theoretical). Seagate currently offers a 2TB 5400rpm drive, which is slower, and Western digital has two 2TB hard drives, namely the WD20EADS Caviar Green (a 5400rpm drive), and the WD Caviar Black a 7200rpm, but I don’t think that the latter has been released yet. That would make Hitachi the first company to launch a 2TB 7200 rpm hard drive for consumers. In any case, more competition is better for end users like you and us, right?
