HTC has patented a stylus recently, where this supposedly magical peripheral is able to interact with capacitive touchscreens including the ones found on the HTC Dream and Magic alongside rivals such as the iPhone. Current styluses can be used on resistive touchscreens that respond to pressure without picking up electrical resistance created by the human finger, quite unlike capacitive touchscreens that do otherwise. In order to achieve this, HTC threw in a magnetic head so that the new stylus is more accurate than a human finger while being compatible with capacitive screens in the process.
