The FCC has approved the mid-range TomTom XL LIVE and XL LIVE TTS (text-to-speech), which means we could be looking at an official announcement sometime in early September. The US version is tipped to be rather similar to the Go 740 LIVE which was introduced in Europe earlier this year, albeit sans Bluetooth and voice command. If you want to remain connected, you can always sign up for the touted $9.99 monthly fee. Interesting times are ahead of us as we wonder whether Garmin will avoid the subscription model with the upcoming nuvi 1690.
