Atheros’ latest Half-Mini card is unique in a sense where it merges 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity with that of Bluetooth on a solitary PCIe card. This allows those with older notebooks to gain the functionality of both using a single space, freeing up room to throw in other components including TV tuners, GPS receivers, VoIP dongles and the like. According to Atheros, the card will be compatible with Windows XP, Vista, the unreleased Windows 7 and Linux operating systems. It is currently being tested to make sure the final product that arrives in your hands will be good enough to run sans glitches.
