
Garmin has finally made its nüvi 1690 official, where it will hit store shelves sometime before 2009 clocks out. Entering the market at a $499.99 price point, you will also benefit from two years subscription of the Garmin nüLink service which will comprise of useful applications such as local Google search, white page listings, real-time traffic and flight status updates and the Latitude-like Ciao service. Heck, it even helps those with a heavy foot when it comes to driving to nip their bad habit of pressing the pedal to the metal thanks to an ecoRoute mode that chooses the most environmentally preserving route each time, using expected speed and acceleration as the criteria.
