Another one bites the dust it seems, with UAE cellphone company i-mate calling it the day. The company has just closed its office in Dubai Internet City while founder and CEO Jim Morrison is touted to have packed his bags and left the country. All staff were informed to take compulsory two-month unpaid leave in an e-mail sent out last Wednesday, but an employee made it known that they too heard whispers of the operation closing with a locked office shortly thereafter. Morrison did not entertain any calls, while retail partners of i-mate were also informed that it is no longer in business. Too bad for those who still own i-mate devices then – guess you had better take much better care of your smartphone, otherwise replacement parts might be few and far between.
