Intel moves ahead with Jasper Forest

Intel has officially started to produce limited quantities (for testing) of its newest processor based on the Jasper Forest architecture, which is itself derived from the Nehalem architecture used in Core i7 and Core i5 CPUs. This time, Intel has integrated the input/output controller into the processor, and that effectively removes another chip from the motherboard. It saves space and power.

To consumers, it simply means: cheaper, better, faster. The chips will be produced in quantities and will find their way in the next PC upgrade cycle in February 2010.
