LG GW620 now official

LG has recently released its first Android-powered handset – the GW620 that comes in a slider form factor, revealing a QWERTY keyboard within. Dubbed the Etna during its spyshot/leaked days, this model comes with a 3″ touchscreen display alongside a 5-megapixel camera. No idea on whether the LG GW620 will be the first step towards a total Android platform for LG, or will they continue to maintain a balance between Windows Mobile and Android smartphones in the future just like how HTC and Sony Ericsson are doing at the moment. Android: Android is the mobile operating system from Google. The software was originally built by a company called Android Inc, that was purchased by Google in 2005. From its modest debuts, Android has become a powerhouse that powers not only smartphones and tablet, but a host of other less high-profile devices and gadgets. LG: LG Corporation is a South Korean conglomerate that is based in Seoul. LG operates a number of subsidiaries including LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Telecom, and LG Chem. The conglomerate specializes in developing electronics, telecom products, and chemicals. LG Corp. was founded in 1947 by Koo In-Hwoi. Koo first established Lak-Hui Chemical Industrial Corp. in 1947. Today, Lak-Hui (pronounced lucky) is known as LG Chem. The company then expanded its business and created Goldstar Co. Ltd, now known as LG Electronics Inc. Both companies merged and formed Lucky-Goldstar, which was eventually renamed “LG” in 1995.
