While Windows Mobile 6.5 phones have yet to warm up the consumer market on an official basis, Microsoft is already working on Windows Mobile 7 that is touted to roll out sometime next year. That’s less than a 1 year gap between both releases, making us hope that Windows Mobile 6.5 would not be a half-hearted attempt at being a stop-gap measure. Apparently, Windows Mobile 7 will boast a “Mobile Social Platform” which ought to revitalize social networks, integrating them into the core experience whenever you fire up a Windows Mobile 7 handset. Guess Microsoft is looking at the direction of Palm’s Synergy and Motorola’s Blur in this case. Good news for everyone – hopefully this might make companies think twice about dropping Windows Mobile from their handset lineup in the near future.
