HardKernel’s ODROID handheld device recently demonstrated its prototype device’s media playback capability while boasting the free album-art based RockOn application. So far it does seem to run pretty smoothly on the handheld, where it will be powered by a similar ARM Cortex A8 chipset that can be found in the iPhone 3GS. All this would mean the ODROID is ready to rock in the mainstream market, although we’re not sure when will it arrive, and for how much. Would consumers bite considering there are tons of other portable media players out there, not to mention the iPhone 3GS?

Android Android is mobile operating system from Google. The software was originally built by a company called Android Inc, that was purchased by Google in 2005. From its modest debuts, Android has become a powerhouse that powers not only smartphones and tablet, but a host of other less high-profile devices and gadgets. Although Android is not a community-driven project, Google does release the source code as open-source under the Apache license.
