
Here’s a pretty cool use of commodity consumer electronics (and other things): MIT students have managed to snap a photo from the edge of space by using an old camera-phone with a little extra antenna and battery muscle. They also used a helium balloon to launch the setup up there and the grand total cost (labor excluded! ) is only $150. Now we know how far ingenuity will take you. [Make, slashdot]
