Pliant has rolled out its new range of Enterprise Flash Drives, better known as EFDs. These will be a new class of high performance and high reliability storage drives, and the first batch will include the LS300, LS150 and LB150. A proprietary ASIC controller will be utilized by the EFD, and when coupled with advanced software, cost, space needs and energy consumption will be reduced in the process. The EFDs aren’t meant for everyday use, but will most likely target mission critical 24×7 applications in enterprise settings. Pliant is proud that the EFDs are able to reach sustained performance of 160,000 IOPS for the LS series and 120,000 IOPS for the LB drive. As for data throughput, the LS line can reach 525MB/sec and 340MB/sec for read and write speeds, respectively, while the LB line achieves 420MB/sec read with 220Mb/sec write. There is no word on pricing as at press time.
