Samsung Kalmia announced

Samsung has jus announced the Kalmia, a spanking new Long Term Evolution modem which is able to download data at 100Mbps while uploading is rated at 50Mbps. The Kalmia will be compliant with Release 8 of the 3GPP LTE specifications according to Samsung, and is also backwards compatible with older wireless data technologies. Not only that, Samsung managed to develop an HSPA Evolution 3G baseband modem specially for cellphones based on Release 7 where it can hit theoretical download and upload speeds of up to 28Mbps and 11.5 Mbps, respectively. Samsung hopes to see these chips make an appearance in handsets sometime next year.
