Sony STR-D5500ES and STR-D3500ES Elevated Standard AV receivers

Sony’s latest foray into the Elevated Standard A/V receiver market would include the STR-D5500ES and STR-D3500ES, where the former will be the first receiver from Sony that features IP network control, letting one use it in tandem with Control4 home automation systems. Apart from that, Sony has also taken its maiden step by offering automatic phase matching that is able to correct phase differentiation between front, center and rear speakers for an optimum sound stage regardless of the type of speakers used. Individual channels offer 120 watts of amplification, accompanied by a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Connectivity options include two HDMI outputs and the ability to upscale sources to 1080p in the primary zone and up to 1080i in the secondary zone. Expect the STR-D5500ES and STR-D3500 to retail for $2,000and $1,000, respectively, from next month onwards. [Press Release]
