We don’t mean to overdose you with Core i7 processor notebooks and desktops from Dell, so here’s a little balance – Toshiba’s latest flagship in the UK is their new 18.4″ Qosmio X500 gaming notebook. This model will amble along at 1.6GHz in normal mode, although when you need that additional boost of power, up to 2.8GHz worth of speed can be squeezed out in Turbo Boost mode. Toshiba has already positioned this to be an entertainment system as well, where you get a 1080p display and a Blu-ray burner for high definition fans. Other specifications include HDMI connectivity, up to 8GB RAM, a maximum of 1TB hard drive, a backlit keyboard for those who love working in the dark, Harman Kardon speakers, a multi-touch trackpad, a webcam and NVIDIA’s GeForce GTS 250M graphics processor for superior 3D performance. Prices have yet to be confirmed, although we do expect the Qosmio X500 to see action in the UK from late October onwards.
