Asus has just launched its O!Play media streaming device that won’t cost a bomb, although it isn’t really a full fledged computer on its own. What the Asus O!Play can offer though, is this – all you need to do is place it next to your TV and plug in a hard drive (or a flash card with some media files on it) and you will be able to watch video, listen to music and even check out a slideshow of pictures on your TV. Apart from that, an Ethernet jack lets you hook it up to your home network while streaming content from a computer. At $100 a pop, the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity is rather disturbing although it isn’t a total turn-off.
