Microsoft isn’t all boring, as a recent short tour of Microsoft Labs by our friends at Crunchgear saw them taking a look at rapid prototypes of new products, including multi-touch mice. These devices aren’t final in any way, but there is always a slight chance of them making it to the real world if all goes well. For example, the Cap mouse comes with a curved capacitive sensor which comprises of the “head” of the mouse, looking more like a mouse than any of its brethren. As for the unorthodox Side mouse, it will throw a swath of IR light and analyzes obstacles it hits, telling you what the depth is. Sounds pretty crazy, but creativity has never started off on a conventional path.
