Sprint has just updated the MiFi 2200 with a new firmware that lets the 3G-to-WIFI device run without going into sleep mode when connected to an external power source. It’s seems like a logical thing to do, but the MiFi 2200 previous was going into sleep mode after a while – if there’s no activity, regardless of the power source. That’s now fixed and you could conceptually use it as your main Internet access, if you don’t mind the slower speed and latency when compared to a fast DSL or cable access. This update was announced as “upcoming” last week, but it’s out now.
