Samsung’s first internal Blu-ray disc COMBO drive is also known as the SH-B083, where it is able to handle reading of BD-R and BD-ROMs at up to 8x speeds, while handling CDs at up to 40x and DVDs at up to 16x. Using Samsung’s fast dual layer jumping algorithm, the new SH-B083 COMBO drive can achieve an average access speed of 350ms – this figure is (so far) superior to many other drives on the market, and boasts a 4-point skew adjustment for more precise BD drive reading. No idea on pricing, but you can look out for the Samsung SH-B083 from November onwards. [Press Release]
