It looks like Buffalo is really racing to embrace USB 3.0, and hot on the heels of its USB 3.0 external hard disk is its BR-X1216U3 USB 3.0 Blu-ray burner. Supporting burning speeds of up to 12x for single or dual layer Blu-ray discs, the USB 3.0 will certainly be a boon to reduce its writing time. In case you’re worried about compatibility, it’s backwards compatible with USB 2.0 connections, so you’re safe. This item is currently being sold in Japan for about 39,100 Yen ($449), which is certainly pricey, but that should be expected of something that’s on the cutting edge of tech.
