Students at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell have come up with a low cost robot arm that was specially designed to open doors. Dubbed DORA (Door Opening Robotic Arm), this robot arm works great with 14 different handles in 85% of tests that involve pushing the door and 65% in pulling tests. Guess the disabled would definitely find this to be a boon in the near future if it is implemented on a wide scale.
