Nintendo could offer 3G access to next handheld

With the iPhone slowly but surely eating into Nintendo’s sales when it comes to the handheld gaming market, the Japanese giant will need to do something fast in order to stem the tide. iPhone users have the advantage of accessing 3G Internet regardless of where they are, subject to signal availability of course, but Nintendo DS owners are limited to just Wi-Fi. Nintendo bigwig Satoru Iwata is currently considering to throw in free 3G access to their next handheld, and this could be huge! After all, parents surely won’t fork out more money for their kids’ iPhone data plan, but free 3G with a DS sounds much more reasonable.
