In a case that started off somewhat similar to the spat between Verizon and AT&T, it seems that the end result is vastly different. While AT&T failed to stop Verizon’s advertisements, TELUS has managed to get a temporary injunction against a series of ads from Rogers. The carrier boasted in its ads that it’s “Canada’s most reliable network” and with speeds “two times faster than any other”. Rogers had to admit in court that it couldn’t claim the top spot for itself, thanks to TELUS’ newly-launched 21Mbps HSPA network. That didn’t stop Rogers from arguing on the reliability issue though, and lost. Is this what the future of advertising will become? Taking shots at your competitors?
