The Windows 7 launch did manage to push up sales of PCs by a whopping 40%, although this figure could be partly offset by buyers who were holding out for a purchase during the previous fortnight, seeing sales plummet 29% and 2% compared to 2008. It remains to be seen whether this sales spike is a new trend that Microsoft would welcome, or is it just a temporary anomaly due to folks who were waiting particularly for Windows 7. We’d place our money on the latter, unless Windows 7 proved to be that revolutionary and pushes out huge sales figures just like the Nintendo Wii.
