Don’t be so smug that your digital camera is able to shoot 20-plus megapixel shots – the world record currently stands at 26 gigapixels for a photo, thanks to the efforts of A.F.B. Media GmbH, Dresden, Germany. This was made possible by stitching together 1,655 images shot with a Canon 5D Mark II and a 400 lens. Stitching of these images were performed on a machine with 16 processors running within coupled with the help of 48GB RAM, taking a total of 94 hours to complete the task for a new world record.
