3D Blu-ray By Summer 2010?

It seems that there is a strong possibility that we might be able to enjoy 3D Blu-ray videos from the comfort of our living rooms by the end of summer 2010. NVIDIA’s PR manager for the UK and Northern Europe, Ben Berraondo, has confirmed that the Blu-ray Association has finally settled on the details of 3D Blu-ray. NVIDIA’s 3D Vision Technology will be able to display the newly agreed on standard. However, it seems that most folks will need to upgrade their existing hardware to be able to enjoy the new 3D movies. For instance, most HDTVs currently available can run at a 60Hz refresh rate, but 3D films would require a refresh rate of 120Hz. The consolation for PS3 owners is that they most likely will only need a firmware upgrade (and those 3D glasses) to be able to go 3D.
