Acer’s maiden entry into the world of Android smartphones has resulted in the Liquid A1 being shipped in the UK, retailing for £339.99 and £328.99 and Expansys and Clove, respectively. With that kind of dough, you get a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 3.5″ WVGA capacitive touchscreen display, quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and triband (900/1900/2100) HSDPA, Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR connectivity alongside a 5-megapixel camera. The user interface itself has not undergone any major transformations by Acer, so you will probably have to find your way around a rather vanilla version of Android 1.6 Donut.

Android Android is mobile operating system from Google. The software was originally built by a company called Android Inc, that was purchased by Google in 2005. From its modest debuts, Android has become a powerhouse that powers not only smartphones and tablet, but a host of other less high-profile devices and gadgets. Although Android is not a community-driven project, Google does release the source code as open-source under the Apache license.
