Another iPhone Credit Card Reader For CES?

It looks like Mophie isn’t content to focus solely on battery packs for the iPhone, as it planning to unveil more information on its Credit Card Reader at CES 2010 (which is just around the corner). On paper it seems similar to the Square by Twitter founder, Jack Dorsey, so it will be interesting to see how they compete against each other, or perhaps complement each other. The additional hardware add on to your iPhone (or iPod) touch should turn your iPhone into a credit card terminal, which should help sales people who need to make transactions with customers who are on the road. CES 2010 looks like it’s going to be heating up, doesn’t it?

CES: CES is the acronym for the (International) Consumer Electronics Show, one of the largest consumer-electronics shows in the world. Although it is held in Las Vegas today, the first CES happened in June 1967 in New York City and Bob Gavin, the CEO of Motorola was the opening keynote speaker for that first edition. Subsequently, CES was held twice a year: the summer edition was in New York, and the winter edition was in Las Vegas, that is, until 1998 when CES became a once-a-year show. iPhone: iPhone: The iPhone is Apple's line of smartphones. That was also the original name of the first iPhone, which was announced on January 9th 2007 by Steve Jobs during the Macworld Keynote. The iPhone was released to the public in June of the same year. The development of the iPhone started in 2004, was internally called "project purple" and was the fruit of a collaboration between Apple and AT&T. Since then, Apple has released new iPhone models every year, with the iPhone 3G in July 2008, the iPhone 3GS in June 2009, the iPhone 4 in June 2010, the iPhone 4S in October 2011 and the iPhone 5 in September 2012. The iPhone represented more than half of Apple's revenues in 2012.
