No, the Apanda A60 is not an endangered species of any sort, but instead is yet another Android-powered handset that apparently is still in the beta version. The specifications ain’t too shabby after all, with a 600Mhz Qualcomm 7227 processor, a 3.2″ HVGA 320 × 480 resolution display, 256MB ROM, 256MB RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity and a 5-megapixel camera. It will run on Android 1.6, supporting both GSM quadband and WCDMA networking to make this a global handset. Too bad there is no word on pricing and availability as at press time.

Android Android is mobile operating system from Google. The software was originally built by a company called Android Inc, that was purchased by Google in 2005. From its modest debuts, Android has become a powerhouse that powers not only smartphones and tablet, but a host of other less high-profile devices and gadgets. Although Android is not a community-driven project, Google does release the source code as open-source under the Apache license.
