Apple patent application points to universal iPhone and iPod dock

Could this be it? Finally, has Apple realized what a lucrative market the iPhone/iPod dock is? The company from Cupertino, California, has filed for a patent application for a new kind of universal Dock which ought to bring some forward looking technology to the table. We’re talking about an elastic, sponge-like substance being used which is able to conform to any device while holding it in place. Apart from that, the dock is also able to retain the imprint of your device so that you won’t need to reconfigure it the next time round. Resetting it is as easy as pushing a button so that a totally different device will play nice with it. Good going Apple – now show us the final product soon, please?
