This auto-warning device aism to prevent private pilots from infringing controlled airspace and/or crashing into obstacles including (but not limited to) factory chimneys and broadcast antennae. According to Gretchen Burrett, NATS safety honcho, “Infringements into controlled airspace are a serious safety concern for private and commercial pilots.
