Microsoft clearly has Google within its crosshairs with the latest expansion of Bing’s search features, especially where maps are involved. A beta of Silverlight version of Bing Maps will now come with a more comprehensive Streetside view that is similar to Google’s Street View, where one is able to enjoy on-the-ground panorama photos of mapped-out locations complete with road overlays alongside the added ability of navigating through in-world clicks. Bing takes a slightly different approach by stitching photos together in perspective-correct 3D, while using an app gallery which is smart enough to merge geolocated data into the street-level look.
